Savour The French Cuisine Delight at Oakroom Resto & Bar at Oakwood Jakarta

Good news for you who loves French Food, this month Oakroom Restaurant & Bar at Oakwood Premier Cozmo Jakarta, one of the most luxury and stylish apartments in Jakarta, presents French Food Promotion ‘ A Taste of France’. This event which will be held from 6 to 30 October 2015 is a part of Oakwood Asia Pacific’s Chef Exchange Program. The Executive Chef Jerome Cartailler from Okwood Premier Jot-Nostalg Center, Manila will be in charge in this event and bring not only a gastronomic delight but also a real French culinary experience.

Chef Jerome’s selection for this promotion is ranging from appetizer, main course to appetizer. Here’s a sneek peek of what I got at the launching of the French Food Promotion.


Appetizer

Warm Goat Cheese Salad with Walnut Vinaigrette – 100K++

I always love French food since the presentation is always prettier than the other countries’ cuisines including this salad. A full bowl of mixed greens lettuce and rockets topped with a tasty, soft yet tangy goat choose with refreshing oil dressing.


Moules Marinieres – 110K++
Bowl of fresh mussels cooked in white wine, served with baguette mop


Main Course

Norwegian Salmon Aioli Sauce with Ratatouille Vegetables – 190K++

What’s best for lunch than this fresh and juicy seared fillet of salmon with light garlic sauce and crunchy Mediterranean vegetable. Oh btw, I love their light aioli sauce paired with mashed potato too.


Tender Beef Bourguignon – 170K++

Fascinée par Madeleine Bistro

Prancis itu boleh dibilang negara yang juga kaya akan kuliner. Ada begitu banyak makanan luar biasa yang hadir dari tangan-tangan chef ternama disana. Ditambah dengan citarasa autentik yang khas, masakan Perancis tak jarang jadi incaran penjelajah rasa di dunia. Saya sendiri penasaran seperti apa masakan Perancis itu, sampai akhirnya teman-teman saya mengiming-imingi untuk mencicipi sebuah resto Prancis baru yang sedang happening di daerah Kemang, namanya Madeleine Bistro.

Berlokasi di Gedung Kemang 89, Madeleine Bistro menyatu dengan salah satu toko perlengkapan furnitur yang juga menyuplai furnitur untuk Madeleine. Memasuki lorong Kemang 89, sudah terlihat bagaimana Madeleine menghadirkan suasana classy dan lux seolah membawa pengunjung ke sebuah resto mewah di Perancis. Penerangan di dalam restonya dibuat sedikit redup. Ada beberapa lukisan dan gambar-gambar reto di beberapa bagian dindingnya. Ada pula pigura-pigura kosong yang disusun secara acak disalah satu sudut dinding. Retro classic. I simply love the interior.

Malam ini dibuka dengan Entree yang begitu cantik menggoyang lidah dan perut saya. Salad Nicoise dan Escargots a la Madeleine tersaji dengan porsi yagn cukup besar untuk ukuran hidangan pembuka. Salad Nicoise (55K) berupa salad khas Perancis dengan potongan daging tuna yang kulitnya dibalut dengan wijen. I gave standing applause for the wijen covered the tuna. It’s unique! Tunanya sangat fresh, dengan minyak wijen yang sedikit melumuri daging tuna, ada rasa sedikit asin dan gurih yang memperkaya rasa tunanya. Ditambah dengan aneka sayurannya seperti kacang merah, anchovy, lettuce, kentang potong dadu, salad ini jadi luar biasa!


Escargots a la Madeleine (75K) was also went very well on my stomach. Kalau biasanya escargots disajikan dengan cangkangnya, Madeleine mencoba menghadirkannya dengan daging yang siap makan, tanpa perlu repot mengorek-ngorek dari cangkangnya. Dagingnya was perfectly boiled. Tender and soft. Most of all I love the fried mushroom. Cacahan jamurnya bercampur sempurna dengan potongan tomat. Rasa manis bercampur asin dan gurih. Ahh perfect dish!


Sebelum masuk ke main course, sesuai dengan cara makan a la Prancis, kami diberikan minuman penetral rasa berupa satu sloki lemon juice yang segar!

Gnocchi Fait Maison (85K) menjadi menu utama yang sedikit mengagetkan perut saya sebenarnya. Tekstur Gnocchi yang terbuat dari kentang ini terlalu berat untuk awalan. Agak sedikit lembek dan hambar, belum lagi cream sauce-nya juga tidak gurih sama sekali. Tipikal saus khas Perancis yang tanpa rempah sehingga rasanya hambar. I just didn’t enjoy this main dish.


Untungnya, Honey Glazed Chicken (65K) berhasil menyelamatkan perut saya. Potongan daging ayam bagian kaki yang disiram dengan saus madu disajikan bersama buttered rice dan spinach. I love the honey glazed sauce so much! Menikmatinya bersama nasi berbalut mentega yang gurih jadi unik dengan tambahan rasa manis madu. Cacahan bayamnya juga gurih hanya saja terlalu lembek tesurnya, jadi seperti makanan bayi.


Doris et ses Artichauts (85K). Oven-baked fillet of dory served with artichoke ragout and garlic sauce. Tekstur daging dorinya sangat lembut dan gurih. Hanya saja kelembutan itu jadi membuat saya penuh dengan mashed potato yang juga terlalu lembut dan lembek. But, I simply love the artichoke. Bunga dari Perancis ini ternyata buah dan bunganya bisa dimakan, lho. Mirip seperti wortel aja sih.


Cote d’Agneau Croustillante aux Groseilles Bougers (195K). Lamb chop ini sayangnya masih tercium bau dombanya, meskipun tekstur dagingnya soft namun saya sedikit nggak nyaman dengan bau anyir dombanya. Tambahan mashed potato, vegetable ratatouille, dan mint sauce cukup menjadi penetral lidah saya.


Penutup malam kali ini berupa dua dessert, Trio de Gateaux Madeleine dan Cold Chocolate Cheese Cake. Trio de Gateaux Madeleine (40K) sepintas mirip kue cubit dengan tekstur adonan yang sama namun sedikit kasar, disajikan dalam tiga rasa macadamia, raspberry, dan chocolate. No special things from this dessert. 


Cold Chocolate Cheese Cake (40K) mungkin bisa dibilang juara dessert malam ini. Tekstur cheese cakenya lembut menyatu sempurna dengan lelehan cokelat di atasnya dan rasa cokelat dan sedikit moka disetiap potongannya. Ditambah dengan blood orange gelee, jelly yang agak kenyal dengan aroma jeruk yang sangat segar membuat acara makan cheese cake tambah menyenangkan!


Madeleine Bistro memasang harga makanan mulai dari Rp40.000 – 185.000. Minuman mulai dari Rp22.000 – 33.000. Sedangkan untuk minuman beralkohol mulai dari Rp90.000 – 175.000 dan aneka wine di jual per botol mulai dari Rp500.000 – 1.200.000.

Overall, I really enjoy to have my dinner here. The ambience was warm and cozy. The food was very authentic, and the service was also good. I appreciated how the waitress in her patient explained one by one the ingredients of the menu I asked about. Can’t wait to spend my time back here!

Bonjour, a Delightful French Pastry

Several days ago, my tummy was craving for a cake. I asked some of my food bloggers friend to guide me found a cake shop near Grand Indonesia since that day I was around GI to watch movie. I insisted to find a red velvet cake; unfortunately there are no cake shops around GI who sell red velvet. So, when one of my friend asked me to go to Bonjour, a French pastry shop, that sell the best cheese cake, I went there without any expectation since I just wanna eat a cake hahaha!





Bonjour, is a French pastry shop owned by Yuji Shiraki, a Japanese who also an executive chef for this shop since its establishment in 1989.  Located at ground floor, Grand Indonesia Shopping Town, the cake shop sells various pastries, cookies and cakes. I’d seduced by its fancy cakes but still I curious with the cheese cake my friend offered. So, I tried the cheese cake. It’s a pure baked cheese cake with solid texture but soft and tender in every bite. The cheese flavour is also rich and leaves a good sensation in my mouth. Wow, thanks for my friend who recommend this cake. For only 30K, I succeed to satisfy my tummy.



After this, I still curious to find other cake shops who sell red velvet cake. Let’s see where this foot will step in. Let’s hunting for a cake, eatersuntildiee!
