LANTERN RESTAURANT, PETITENGET, BALI

0 komentar

I visited Lantern based on recommendation of my friends who lives in Bali. She said if you want to look for good and affordable Vietnamese/Asian Cuisine around Seminyak, Lantern might be a good choice. So, I visited this resto for late lunch since my hubby and I too lazy to went out from our hotel hehehe...

Lantern is a small restaurant at Petitenget area. You can easily find them at the crowd of Petitenget street next to Nostimo Greek Grill Resto. The restaurant was beautifully designed like a street food cafe in Vietnam completed with the domination of oriental ornaments and colors. I thought Lantern try to make the visitors experience their love of South East Asia's cuisine. Here, we can find selections of South East Asia and Peranakan cuisine, from Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnamese, Thailand to Indonesia. I opted their Vietnamese & Peranakan food based on my friend's recommendation.

Vietnamese Spring Roll - 45K

this spring roll was the best spring roll I've ever had in my life! Seriously, aside from their super thin, chewy and fresh rice paper rolls, what's wrapped inside was super fresh and crunchy. In one bite, you can taste a fresh chicken, prawn, carrot, lettuce and cucumber with a cool "crack" sensation that oh God, I even hard to describe...and their nouc champ dipping was sooo tasty. Fresh, tangy, sweet, sour in one dip and all just like heaven in my mouth! A super MUST TRY!

Hainan Chicken Rice - 75K

In their menu written that this is a limited daily supply, but thanks God that day I could try their Hainan Chicken Rice. You might get hundreds of this rice in Jakarta, but only some crafting the good ones. Lucky me, Lantern serves a very very tasty Hainan Chicke Rice. The rice was not only fragrant but also super moist with its 3 hours sous-vide method (a method of cooking in which food is vacuum-sealed in a plastic pouch and then placed in a water bath or steam environment for longer than normal cooking times (usually 1 to 7 hours, up to 48 or more in some cases) The chicken, meanwhile, was very well-cooked and the smell of the ginger was soooo lifting up my taste bud. It's hard to explain, this might be a comfort food, but the rice was so addictive! A super must try as well.

As for the drinks, I have no recommendation, but their Thai Iced Tea was quite nice and the Strawberry juice was simply refreshing.

Strawberry Juice - 35K

Thai Iced Tea - 45K

Prepare cash around IDR40,000 to 150,000 for food and IDR25,000 to 45,000 for beverages which for more was still affordable for Bali's market. The service was fast and kind. No complaint at all. I got a very good lunch experience here. Lantern simply gave me a comfort food and ambiance which I wanted it again and again. I wish you also enjoy your time here. Mind if you share the story in the comment once you visited this resto.

Ngebujang bareng Bakso Boedjangan, ahey!

2 komentar

Berhubung I'm a lil bit bored with some western, italian or whatever food from foreign countries, so saya memutuskan mencari makanan Indonesia yang lagi booming aja di Bandung.

Lucu to the max!!

Menu andalan disini pastinya bakso.

Bakso Super Keju (18.5K)

Tanpa basa-basi lagi, saya langsung pesan bakso andalan disini, Bakso Super Keju lengkap dengan mie bihun dan potongan sawi. Seporsi Bakso Super Keju isinya 1 bakso besar isi keju dan 3 bakso urat kecil. Hmmmm ukuran bakso supernya sih gak terlalu besar tapi cukup mengenyangkan tapi yang juaranya sih ya the cheese inside!

Tuh kan bener jangan-jangan abang owner-nya jomblo kesepian sampai bikin nama begini hahaha...Btw, lupakan namanya, this Es Durian Kesepian is simply DA ROCKS! Ah seger gila buat buka puasa nih! *huhuhu batal enggak ini nulis sambil ngeces

Soal harga jangan ditanya. Muraaah!

I miss their Es Durian Kesepian soooo much!

Sumptuous Breakfasting Buffet at Bengawan Restaurant, Keraton at The Plaza Hotel

0 komentar

Last week I was invited by Keraton at the Plaza to break my fasting at their signature buffet restaurant, Bengawan. This was my very first experience to visit Keraton at the Plaza after hearing the buzzing about this luxury hotel at the prestigious office tower, The Plaza, Thamrin. It is indeed a private and luxury hotel, ever since I stepped my feet on their private access (the door can only be accessed from Plaza Indonesia), I could feel an intimate and warm ambience there. The whole design of the hotel is so rich with Indonesian culture especially Javanese luxury with modern interpretation. Well, that's my short insight about this hotel since I'm not gonna tell you more about them coz I'm here for their restaurant *unless someday I could try their luxury rooms hihihi...

Keraton at The Plaza locating their signature restaurant at the 7th floor with spectacular views of Jakarta. They have two dining areas, indoor and outdoor both offers a modern contemporary and elegant decor. In the night, the ambience is warmer with a dim light and calming backsound. The signature cuisine offered here is Mexican cuisine with delectable array of starters such as soup and salad, main course such as grilled Quesadilla, Tacos, Burritos, to the sumptuous desserts. However, in this holy Ramadhan, they also provides an array of Middle-Eastern and Indonesian cuisine also.

Here's some sneek peek of my dinner at Bengawan that night. Enjoy!

*Sandwich at appetizer section

*Turkey salad, their turkey was sooo juicy and tender. super love it!

*Beef salad
*Appetizer section, Bengawan has more than 5 variations of salad and canapes

*Indonesian section, they have choices of bakmi and main course such as Beef Curry, Chicken Rica-rica, etc. Oh they also have Indonesian fritters such as Bakwan, Tempe Mendoan and other 'gorengan' which very familiar for Indonesian as a snack for break fast,

*Middle-Eastern sections, find their best Beef Shawarma and delightful Chicken Tagine for your dinner. Superb!

*Desserts section, from eclairs, fruit pie, banana pie, pudding to various Middle-Eastern desserts such as baklava and um-ali, everything just delicious. Perfect the sweet tooth person!

*Clockwise: Beef Shawarma, chicken samosa, tempe mendoan, and falafel

Beef Quesadillas & Nachos

*Bakmi, I tried their bakmi with meatball, vegetables, sausage and chicken. I love the broth, it was super fresh and tasty!

Well, it was a nice experience to dine in here. Delectable array of various cuisines could be perfect for you who are looking for a fine place to break your fast or to just have a dinner this month. For only IDR350K++ per person including hot beverages and ta'jil, I believe the price is nothing with the worthy food quality you'll get.

So, thank you Keraton at The Plaza for your kind hospitality. Looking forward for my next visit to try your best Dates Juice again, I wish it's available outside the Ramadhan promo too ;-) ...

Cuanki Serayu

1 komentar

Bandung had always be the pioneer of Indonesian traditional snacks since long ago, who doesn’t know batagor, cireng, cilok, bakso tahu, gehu, basreng, cuankie bla bla bla, you name it! I’d tried all the first mention, but the latter I’ve never try it until my hubby invited me to try the snack which name make me curious. I have no idea what actually the cuankie is and I got surprise when my hubby told me the story that cuanki is actually the abbreviation of Cari Uang Jalan Kaki (earning money by walking) since the street seller sells their food itinerant from one place to another by cart. Cuanki consists mostly of meatball & tofu or in Indonesian "bakso tahu" and fried meatball & tofu or "batagor". Being a legend in Bandung, people nowadays not saying "I wanna eat bakso tahu" rather to say "I wanna eat cuankie". And the most famous and one of cuankie pioneer is Cuanki Serayu.

I visited their shop which beyond my expectation. It just only a small and old shop...hmmmm I better called it "warung" but don't judge book by its cover, they might be old but look on the queue, full and packed! Most of the buyer brought their personal car. Seems this baby is very famous (where am I so far hahaha *blushing).

Cuanki Serayu  offers us bakso tahu, bakso kuah and batagor. The famous one is bakso tahu of course. A bowl of Cuanki Serayu consists of some big meatballs, dumplings (siomay), meatballs covered with tofu and crunchy chips. The meatballs was so juicy and the tofu was so soft. The broth also savoury which made all in the bowl fantastic. I never try such good bakso tahu before. This was fantastic for me and also for only IDR12.000 per bowl!

The Batagor was also the star. Never imagine that they could have a super crunchy skin with a juicy filing. Companied by an aromatic peanut sauce, this snacks really stole my heart!

I sometimes feel pity to live in a big city like Jakarta since nobody sell this goddamn good bakso tahu with big portion with a cheap price. I must be miss Bandung when I miss this Cuanki Serayu. For you Bandung citizen, how lucky you are to have this legend snacks. So, for you who miss the legendary food in Bandung, trying this Cuanki Serayu will be your memorable street eating moment!

Sop Buntut Maknyuss di Dapur Dahapati

0 komentar

Porsinya benar-benar juara!

Meskipun buntutnya digoreng tapi rasanya malah seperti buntut dibakar. Aroma bakarannya sangat kuat. curiganya buntutnya digoreng dulu baru dibakar deh.

Thanks also for inviting me to this event!
