Il Vero Local Artisan Gelato, Mal Kelapa Gading

0 komentar

I'm living near Kelapa Gading area, but I'm the one who rarely spending my time in Kelapa Gading especially the mall since most of every weekend I went to Bandung. Fortunately, a week ago, I had no time to visit Bandung since my husband still in his business trip, so I decided to go to Mal Kelapa Gading and spending my time visiting some new places in the mall. Gosh, it's been like so many years, there are many new restaurants and cafes inside the mall. Even my favorite Sushi Tei outlet move to the 5th floor and I didn't realize hahaha...where have I been so far!!

Well, strolling around the mall, I found a new gelato outlet in the lane between MKG 3 and 2. I remember it's supposed to be the Heavenly Blush outlet back then. The name is Il Vero Local Artisan Gelato. Their first outlet is in Arteri Permata Hijau and I assumed, after googling, this is their second outlet. The outlet was designed very eye-catchy with yellow and white. It's only a small outlet with one long table and about eight chairs to sit in. Even so, the queue was very long.

Il Vero serves Italian gelato and sorbet with different flavors every day. The waiter told me they only use fresh ingredients, fresh fruits with no preservative and artificial coloring. Available in sweet-milky gelato and fresh-sour sorbet. When I visited the outlet in Saturday, they had Tiramisu, Salted Caramel, Mango, Hazelnut, Chocolate, Pistacchio and Lemon flavors. They serves the gelato in three serving size: small (1 flavor), medium (2 flavors) and large (3 flavors). Rather than choosing the small size, I prefer to pick the large one since the price was also cheaper compared to buy 3 cups of small size.

Mango, Pistacchio & Salted Caramel Gelato - 40K

I chose to have the milky gelato in Pistacchio and Salted Caramel and sour sorbet in Mango. All of them was sooo tempting! Of the three my favorite would be the Mango and the Salted Caramel. The Mango sorbet was so so fresh and taste like a real mango. Like you squeeze a mango and freeze it in the freezer. It's super duper refreshing. Neither too sweet nor tangy. It's just addicting! While the Salted Caramel came in light texture with sweet and a hint of salty flavor after came to my mouth. The Pistacchio came in bold texture, with rich Pistacchio flavor but I don't know why, compared to several Pistacchio gelato I've ever tried, this one was too bold for me, a little bit bitter.

FYI, for your refreshment after the milky or sour ice cream, Il Vero have a free infused water that can be refilled anytime you want.

Well, for such fresh ingredients, I give a two thumbs up for Il Vero Gelato. They made it so fresh and tasty. The price is also still affordable start from IDR25,000 for small size, IDR30,000 for the medium and IDR40,000 for the large one.

Will be back for another flavors! Psssst, I told you a secret, my 2yo kid was super addicted to this gelato, even in his first visit, he had the large one and finished it off byhimself hahaha. So, ice cream lovers you might want to catch them up!

Welcoming the end of the year, The People's Cafe launching several new menu inspired by their concept of Global Street Food. Yesterday, I got a chance to join the preview event. It's actually surprising since they launched many new menu around 17 menus from breakfast, appetizer into heavy bites menu! So, don't wanna make it too long, here's the new menu from The People's Cafe. Enjoy!

Easy Bites Menu

You can take this easy bites menu as an appetizer or snack, whatever you name it. They're all good in portion and perfect to fulfill your tummy if you don't want to have your heavy meals first.

Clear Soup. A chicken soup with thick and savory broth companied by slices of carrot, potato and macaroni. Well, I could say this is like My Mom's Sayur Sop. I thought it's better to served with rice for heavy bites hihihi...

Thai Chicken Salad. Green veggies topped with minced chicken and refreshing and spicy Thai dressing. Simple salad with light dressing, quite surprise that after it went to my throat, boooom, the spicy flavor came afterward.

K-wings. Well, before I read the description, I've already guess that initial "K" will stand for "Korea" like K-Pop hahaha. It's indeed Korea because this crunchy chicken wings covered with light and tangy Korean a la sauce. Korean food lovers, you have to try this!

The People's Cafe launches two new pizza menu. Unfortunately, before I took a photo, the other one has already gone hahaha....Anyway, I love this kind of pizza since TP made the crust so thin and crunchy. Can't stop munching it!

Thai-style. Chicken Pizza. A thin crust pizza topped with minced chicken and Thai sauce
Meat Me. A thin crust pizza topped with chicken sausage, mixed chicken and prawn and chicken ham

Nasi Uduk Rendang Sapi. This is the interesting thing I love about The People's Cafe. They're concern about Indonesian street food and try to take them to the next level. With pretty presentation, you might not guess that this is our daily nasi uduk (Indonesian rice made with coconut milk, similar with nasi lemak). This Nasi Uduk served with rendang, boiled egg, tempeh and tofu, fried noodle, Indonesian crackers 'kerupuk'  and sambal.

Salted Egg Chicken. My favorite one. TPC successfully made a perfect salted egg sauce over the chicken with thick and rich flavor of salted egg. Neither too salty nor too fishy. Accompanied with half-cooked sunny side up and fragrant curry leaves, frankly speaking, this is a bowl of heaven!

Mie Ireng Dori. Achtung achtung spicy lovers, this noodle is must try. Instead of the thick yet moist texture of the noodle and well-cooked dory, people prefer to talk about their whole flavor. Some saying that this noodle is similar with the recent famous Samyang from Korea seeing the spicy level was fantastic. I was hands up in the third attempt hahaha...

Mie Bakso Spesial. Street food alert! Craving for Bakso but you can't find anyone near your office, go to TPC, they cover what you want. This Mie Bakso Spesial is simply irresistible with tasty broth, meaty meatballs, vermicelli and egg noodle and boiled dumpling.

Classic Fish and Chips. Crispy Fried Dory served with fries and tartar sauce.

Special in Setiabudi One outlet, you can enjoy breakfast menu with several good selections of breakfast menu every day, while in Kota Kasablanka outlet this breakfast can only be enjoyed every Sunday.

Bubur Ayam Kota & The Big Breakfast. This breakfast menu launched several months ago and still be customer's favorite. If you wish to have light breakfast, Bubur Ayam Kota which inspired by our neighborhood's chicken porridge might be perfect. Completed by shredded chicken, roasted peanut, fried onions, Indonesian crackers and yellow chicken broth. Meanwhile, if you wish to have a big breakfast, a TPC's Big Breakfast might good for you. In one big plate you'll have two kind of your desired egg (scrambled/omelette/sunny side-up/poached), sausage, salad, chicken ham and sauteed potatoes.

Nasi Mawut. Inspired by tradisional Javanese dishes, this Nasi Mawut a.k.a. nasi campur-campur or mixed rice, is served for everyone craving for something heavy since this menu is fully loaded wit carbo. In one plate you'll find rice topped with green fried noodle (veggied based), shredded chicken with green chilli sauce, seaweed and sunny side-up. How to enjoy this one: simply stir and mixed everything on the plate like you enjoy Korean Bibimbap. Very fulfilling breakfast!

Roti Bakar Telor Kornet. Another light breakfast or for me it's better for snacking haha, a toast filled with beef corned, egg and cheese. Super love this crunchy toast since the filling was so generous and melted in my mouth!

Roti Bakar Komplit. On the other side, if you wish a heavy toast, you have to try this one. Filled with banana, hazelnut chocolate, spread, shredded coconut, peanut and mozzarella, who can resist this fulfilling breakfast!

You can enjoy all of the new menu (except Bubur Ayam Kota, the Big Breakfast and Mie Godog) starting tomorrow 21 November 2016 at all The People's Cafe outlet in Jakarta. Hurry and try their selections of good and affordable menu, guys!

A Lunch Date at Monty's Jakarta, Senopati

0 komentar

It’s been more than several months my hubby and I didn’t have any quality time together, just the two of us since most of our times were dedicated to our beloved son. So, last week I had an idea to have a date with my hubby and left our child with his grandma hihihi (feeling like we’re still young, but hey we are, and dating with having-a-child-status isn’t something weird, right).

We’re heading to Senopati area where we decided to have a lunch dating at Monty’s. Been hearing about this restaurant a year ago. One of fancy restaurant around Senopati neighborhood which I heard impressive enough among the Jakarta’s media and foodies. They might be right about Monty’s, once I stepped my feet in its three levels building, I could feel the good vibe starting from the entrance, where they put a sophisticated and charming hanging lamp, the exotic bar, how they set the table with fancy table wares and wine glass, to the genius way to put several living plants in several sides which make this restaurant looks more casual and warm in the sunny day but more elegant and intimate in the night.

And oh I realized why some people thought this is a fine dining restaurant since they change the table during night comes with white table cloth (in the day the black marble tables were left blank) and it maka the ambiance of this restaurant look so exclusive. But actually, they claimed that Monty’s is not a fine dining, more like a semi fine dining but people can come in a casual way as well. Monty’s provide three dining levels. First level for regular dining, second and third are privately set for group booking such as corporate gatherings, arisan or parties.

Monty’s offers a Scandinavian dining experience with an endless choice of wine and champagne. They even sell champagne in a glass not in a bottle like you usually find in other similar restaurants. Good deal, right. Well, ideally good vibe restaurant supposed to have a good food as well in my thought and Monty’s closer to that type of measurement. Let’s see what I had in Monty’s for our lunch date:

Drinks – Iced Coffee Vanilla Mint and Hot Cappuccino

Nothing much to say, their coffee were simply good and refreshing and oh quite surprise that they serve the hot one in a bigger cup than usual. You will also get a complimentary tasty and soft bread before starting your lunch/dinner.

Whole Chili Roasted Cauliflower – 90K

Feeling surprise when this kind of not-so-familiar veggie served on the table with a whole portion and a knife on the top. Wow, scary brain look-alike haha but don’t worries it’s not as scary as you thought and it’s not even their Halloween’s menu surprise. It’s their regular menu to make people familiar that cauliflower in several regions is now trending. I just remember my mom used to cook this vegetable long ago as a soup, but here they served it differently, roasting the veggie into something crunchy and adding it with chili, parsley pesto, truffle mayo and refreshing pomegranate. A very unique combination of nothing become “something”. I could taste colorful flavor from the original taste of the savory and bitter cauliflower with sweet hint of the pome. Great breakthrough, Chef!

Champagne & Sea Scallop Angel Hair (295K)

Never say no to something with truffle and creamy sauce, moreover, Monty’s poured champagne along the ingredients. It turned to be so so gooood! I really can’t resist this thin and moist angel hair. Simply scrumptious.

On the Bone Lamb Chop (265K)

The most-talked dishes during our lunch. My hubby loves this so much. The tenderness of the lamb can’t be beaten. It shows that the Chef is really concern with the result and opinion of the people who knows that cooking a good lamb chop was something tricky. The classic bernaise sauce was also adding more flavor into the lamb. You can opt another sauce from whisky-bbq sauce, jalapeno chimichurri. Smoky chipotle butter, etc, if you want to.

White Valrhona Chocolate & Banana “Mess” (95K)

Every ending supposed to have a good closing. And Monty’s gave me a surprising good dessert for closing. This White Valrhona Chocolate and Banana “Mess” was simply irresistible. Along with the giant portion and colorful filing of banana, crusts, berry and raspberries, Monty’s also know how to impress their customers. They not only served the dessert, they performed the dessert by dropping the white chocolate sphere from approximately 40cm height. Yes dropping like you drop a big glass bowl and you hear a big “craaaaack” sound and immediately the filing poured out and clutter around the plate. Well, that’s the truly banana “mess” because it’s messy hahahaha. It’s not ending yet, after the cracking performance, the waiter then pouring the toffee sauce. I honestly love their idea, the filing was also very good and not to sweet. Perfect for closing.

In the end, I could claim that this is the best lunch date ever. Everything went well here. From the service, the food, the presentation to the price was worth spending. For all food and beverages, I spent around one million Rupiahs for two. It might be cost a lot for some people, but excellence dining experience can't be paid by anything, right. Well, you have to visit Monty's by yourself to experience what I had and prove that this restaurant was truly a worth-spending one. Psssst, if you having a plan to propose your girlfriend for marriage this place is so perfect especially in the night hahaha.

FYI, Monty's was also having a seasonal theme every month which for me is a plus. Last October they have an Octoberfest set menu and this upcoming November, exactly starting this 2-5 November 2016, they will bring one of the best Norwegian Chef, Chef Petter Beyer in a special dining event named "Nordic Tapas". Ensure you don't miss this talented Norwegian Seafood Chef of the Year 2010. For more info or reservation simply call them at +62 21 7204848 or visit
