Madame Lily: Their Food & Price Honestly Speak With Attitude

Actually I do not particularly like to dinner in ​​Plaza Indonesia area, not only because this is a high class mall but I feel like it’s too 'lame' to join with socialites women or aunties who dress up glamorously while carrying their favourite branded bag and dining in several resto here hahaha (yeah okay it’s just in my mind, I’m not judging). But then, how can I resist an invitation from my friends to taste a recently-established restaurant even though I should again sit next to the ladies carrying Hermes. Oh God not again! Well, first thing on my mind when I stared at a word ‘Honest Food with Attitude’, in front of the resto, was ‘Do they serve that?’. I kept my thought first while waiting for some of other friends and looked around this fancy resto. Anyway, I adore their interior, how they could arrange a not-so-spacious place to one minimalist but looking glamour and chic by putting grey and silver in most of their furniture also with many mirrors embedded on the wall. It’s Victorian style indeed, but juggled adequately. At least I don’t have to bring the Hermes or LV to dine here hahaha…


I love how they set their entire interior, from the broken white engraved lamp to wine buffet, from the cake tire which make the cake seems delish to a tissue embellished with a word ‘Call Me 2992 3868’. It quite honest like a guy put his cell phone number in the club to ask you join his next drink invitation or sort of ask you a date ;-) . Talking about honest, Madame honestly is declaring that they serve Indonesian fusion cuisines which again raise my curiousness. As I opened the menu book, I saw their honest trying to serve various kind of Indonesian with internasional fusion such as in Pizza Tuna Sambal Matah or Spaghetti Tuna Sambal Matah. The rest is various kind of Indonesian food such as Rendang Wagyu, Sop Buntut, Nasi Bali paired with various kind of western and Italian food such as pasta, salad, roast chicken, grilled chicken and of course desserts that I could not resist.


So, here’s I tried to open my stomach honestly tasted their food. The first I tasted Dory Cream Chowder (52K). This is a thick condensed soup consists of dory and cream. I thought it’s more like cream soup with dory and some potatoes, carrots and chicken cutlets inside. It’s a lil bit tasty, not too creamy. It just went well on my stomach and great to open my taste buds.


Next is Nasi Bali (89,5K) which I wanna say honestly that the portion is inversely disproportional with the price. However, I still interest with the overall combination served. The tiny satays (sate lilit) were delish, flavourful and quite tender, so did the shredded chicken and Pindang boiled egg, but I didn’t find any surprising flavour in its shredded vegetables or Indonesian called it ‘urap’. It is too plain for me. Overall, it’s good trying, if I can tell Madame directly, I wanna say please reconsider the portion, Madame. It’s too tiny for the high price.


After Indonesian fusion, I had BBQ Chicken Pizza (78K) with an unusual kind of serving; the pizza was made in a rectangular shape and placed in also wooden rectangular pan. Soft dough with rich of BBQ flavour and their melted cheese just make me feel head over heels. 


Cream Dory Mille Feuille (88K). Ah this dish too fancy for me. At first, I worried the taste wasn’t as good as its appearance but after munching the crunchy chips covered with melted cream and the juicy dory, I could say to myself to not judge a book by its cover. One thing I, again, regretted was only the price and the portion. Compared to the previous Nasi Bali, this is much more overrated! Do you think the same, Madame?



Finally, the night was closed with Honey Comb Crunch Cake (40,5K). It had a soft texture more like chiffon cake with a sweet cream and honey comb crunch cutlets. I didn’t put my interest on the cake, but I love the honey comb crunch, the caramel flavour made me want to munch it more and more. Satisfy my sweet tooth madness!


And oh the drink, I tasted several mocktails and latte of them (left to right, clockwise):

Apple Kiwi Crumble (44.5K). This is fresh kiwi and apple topped up with soda. It’s indeed refreshing!
Strawberry Peach Crumble (44.5K). This is fresh strawberry and peach topped up with soda, compared to the previous, this one more bitter and the soda I didn’t know more shocking in my tongue.
Berries Ice Tea (44.5K). This is a great fusion of strawberry and cranberry. Sweet enough and also refreshing!
Green Tea Latte. The green tea was well-blended with the latte. It just great for me.


If I should be honest about their price, I would say that they are overrated. They start the appetizer to main course from to dessert in range of IDR38.000 to 300.000, while the desserts are from IDR IDR25.000 to 97.500. Beverages start from IDR35.500 to 95.500.

Overall, I really enjoy dinner here but after I leave the resto, I feel like I wanna drop my honest comment about what actually they want to offer. They are not a fine dining restaurant but why should they embed an overrated price for a very tiny portion. They might be located at a high class mal but I thought their competitor doesn’t put too much price for a tiny portion. I thought that…ah too many thought in my mind…Let Madame answer the reason with their heart honestly and action with their respectable attitude.

Decanter Wine House Dining Story

Setelah puas menikmati wine tasting yang diadakan di Decanter Wine House, saya dan beberapa teman-teman food blogger melanjutkan malam sambil ngobrol dan makan. Rasanya sayang sekali meninggalkan tempat hangout yang suasanya cozy banget seperti Decanter. Interior yang mereka usung sebenarnya seperti normalnya sebuah wine house atau lounge. Khusus di bagian lounge-nya konsep industrial sangat kental dengan bar table dan bar chairs terbuat dari kayu ditambah dengan deretan bohlam yang sangat banyak menghiasi langit-langit dan membawa nuansa romantis saat malam tiba. Di area resto-nya terdapat dua area, area sayap sebelah kiri resto terdapat sofa/bangku dan meja panjang dengan ukuran rendan, sementara di sayap kanan resto terdapat wine chiller dan bar table juga. Di area tengahnya terdapat set dining table panjang lengkap dengan gelas wine dan perlengkapan makannya. Masuk ke area agak dalam, kita dapat melihat semi open kitchen-nya serta toilet yang bergaya sedikit eklektik. Semakin malam nuansa bar & lounge ini semakin romantis, lampu-lampu kuning semakin meredup dan menghantarkan cahaya hangat yang cocok untuk menikmati private dining.


Saya pun menikmati private dining saya bersama teman-teman sambi menyicipi beberapa menu andalan Decanter. Berhubung perut sudah sedikit penuh dengan tegukan-tegukan wine, jadi kebanyakan dari kami hanya memesan menu appetizer untuk di sharing.

Escargot in Beer Batter Blanket (40K) yang disajikan dengan Garlic & Herbs Butter menjadi the best opening for that night. Tekstur escargot-nya begitu empuk meskipun sudah dibalut tepung dan direndam dalam beer batter. Sayangnya, agak terlalu asin, maybe next time saya bisa request untuk tingkat keasinannya ya.


Blackpepper Crusted Tuna Loin (82,5K) disajikan dengan Arugula and Fennel Salad serta Caramelized Onion and Balsamic Mustard Dressing. This is the very first time I met Arugula and Fennel which I thought inedible but this time it’s served as salad haha…The leaves are plain and smells like mint and left a highly herb aroma on my mouth. Ditambah daun Arugulanya agak tajam di pinggirannya, jadi lucu terasa ada yang menggigit di lidah. Blakpepper Crusted Tuna-nya sendiri very juicy, blackpepper-nya menempel di bagian pingir tuna dan tidak pedas sama sekali buat saya, malah cenderung asin. Dengan beragam sensasi rasa yang ‘baru’ dari tiap ingredients-nya, I thought I’m not into this food.


Grilled Calamari (50K) disajikan dengan Spicy Tomato Fondue. Satu kata. Scrumptious! Daging cuminya empuk dan kenyal banget, sangat fresh. Sambalnya juga agak pedas jadi bisa menetralkan si calamari yang plain dan hanya half-grilled ini.


Classic BLT (65K), sandwich disajikan dengan beef, lettuce, tomato, egg dan friench fries. Penutup malam kami kali ini malah agak berat hehe…but it’s worth to try, sandwich dengan isi daging, tomat, lettuce, dan telur yang segar itu nggak pernah salah. Berhasil membuat saya say enough! I’m full hihi…


Harga makanan dan minuman disini sedikit middle-range, mulai dari Rp40.000 – 250.000, sedangkan minumannya lebih sangat bervariasi apalagi mereka juga menyediakan wine. Range minuman non wine-nya mulai dari Rp25.000 – 45.000 sedangkan wine per bottle-nya biasanya berbeda harga tergantung jenis dan mereknyaPelayanan disini sangat ramah dan cekatan. Ditambah dengan owner dan manager-nya yang siap menampung segala masukkan dari saya dan teman-teman blogger malam itu tentang makanan dan wine-nya. Anyway, I really enjoy to have dinner here, most of all paired with bottles of wine. Suasana, makanan, orang-orangnya semuanya ramah dan serasa menyatu malam ini. Pun saya nanti akan kesini lagi, saya rasa nggak ada salahnya membawa orang tercinta untuk menghabiskan malam disini.

It's Bobabits!

Well, bubble tea booming is still in the air with many new brands come up offering their specialties and uniqueness.After the most-talked Cha Time, I give a try for the also most-wanted bubble tea,  Bobabits. It also comes from Taiwan, this brand not only offer beverages but also Taiwan street snacks from variety of fried snacks such as fried mushroom, fried shrimp, honey wing, to well-known Japanese snacks, takoyaki and okonomiyaki. Their milk teas also havemany mouth-watering choices both infused with milk and original with many choices of toppings. Choose from the recommended Jasmine Tea or Oolong Tea, pick your toppings from bubble jelly, grass jelly, aloe vera, nata de coco, chocolate pudding, etc., and choose the fusion you want, from Red Velvet Milk Tea to Crème Brulee Milk Tea or you want challenge your taste bud with their creative drinks such as Fruit Delight with a stack of fruits or Hot Grass Jelly Fiesta. All of them just made me drooled! 


Bobabits also provides a very comfy area to enjoy our bubble. I visited one of their branches in Gading Walk, Mal KelapaGading 3. It is a green-comfy walking area with several resto and café. Bobabits designed their outlet also with green as their logo in green. There are two areas, indoor and outdoor. In indoor, watch their ceiling, you will see a unique balloon made from concrete. Isn’t it unique? In outdoor, there are some chairs with a cubic shape and a unique hanging lamp. I prefer stay in their outdoor area. It is just a perfect place to hanging out and waiting for a night.


So, what I got from this outlet? Well, on that time I’ve already full after eating pizza, so I decided to only take their milk teas and the Choco Oreo Milk Tea and Red Velvet Milk Tea raised my curiousness. 

Red Velvet Milk Tea. I chose it with chocolate pudding topping. Well, I feel like chewing a true red velvet cake, creamy and the chocolate pudding also soft and juicy but I thought it’s too sweet. 


Choco Oreo Milk Tea. Compared to the previous, I prefer this one. I know this is just a blended ore with tea and milk, but hey how can you resist this child favourite biscuit in a super good blend of milk and tea. It just perfect for me, moreover it’s not too sweet and the bubble always be my favourite! 


You don’t need to pay high for those bubble teas. I thought they’re still in a good range compared to their competitor. Enjoy milk teas from IDR20,000 – 23.000, Original teas from IDR18,000 – 21,000 and creative drinks from IDR23,000 – 34,000 while snacks and desserts from IDR19,000 – 35,000.

Sunny Side Up : Egg My Day!

Di keseharian saya, masakan berbahan dasar telur paling hanya dinikmati dalam bentuk telur dadar, telur ceplok, omelette, telur disambelin atau disemur. Nah, pas mampir ke Sunny Side Up, ternyata saya menemukan ada banyak macam masakan yang bisa dibuat dari hanya sebuah telur. Restoran yang sudah established beberapa bulan yang lalu ini memang menspesialkan telur sebagai bahan dasar menu mereka. Telur yang mereka pakai bukan telur ayam biasa, based on info yang saya baca sih, telur yang mereka pakai yaitu Arabian Eggs, dengan merah telur yang lebih besar dan kenyal, tidak bau amis, tidak menimbulkan bisul/alergi dan mengandung Omega  sebesar 127,8 mg/100 g telur serta kaya akan betakaroten. Wah, mendengarnya saja saya sudah penasaran kayak apa bedanya si Arabian Eggs itu.



Sunny Side Up yang memiliki icon telur ceplok ini punya beberapa outlet di Jakarta seperti di Alam Sutera, Mal Kelapa Gading dan Kota Kasablanka tempat saya dinner beberapa hari lalu. Interior resto mereka hamper sama di semua cabang, full of orange and white color seperti halnya warna putih dan kuning telur. Nuansa ceria layaknya children playground juga dipilih mereka terlihat dari furniturnya yang bergaya childhood. Dibeberapa sudut dinding juga ada pigura-pigura white-orange yang berisikan gambar-gambar kartun telur. Lucu banget! Di bagian teras mereka juga menyediakan kursi-kursi bergaya ayunan dan sofa tidur yang enak banget buat leyeh-leyeh sambil nyemil.

Untuk menu utamanya sudah pasti Egg Specialties menjadi jualan utama mereka. Kita bisa memilih aneka masakan telur mulai dari Omelette (even you can made your own omelette, yay!), breakfast set menu dengan aneka condiment seperti sausage, red bean dan bread. Ada juga variasi Omurice Fusion, Omelette Fried Rice, pancake hingga menu tempura dan udon serta aneka dessert yang bahkan mereka bervariasi menggunakan egg yolk a.k.a putih telur dalam salah satu juice mereka, Egg Yolk Juice. Sounds funny but not for tonight try haha!



So, here’s my dinner’s review:

Saya memilih Creamy Salmon Omurice, a chef’s recommended, butter rice yang ditutup dengan thin omelette dan disiram dengan creamy sauce, potongan daging salmon, dan wortel serta pangsit goreng on the top. I always love any creamy sauce apalagi untuk campuran pasta. Makanya pas makanan ini datang, saya langsung tes seperti apa creamy sauce-nya and for me, it’s SUPERB! Creamy sauce yang tidak terlalu pekat itu benar-benar fusion yang sempurna dari krim, keju dan susu, bahkan saya sedikit bisa merasakan ada jamur didalamnya. Ah couldn’t say more. Salmon dan nasinya juga jadi pelengkap sempurna. Hanya saja makin lama, mencampurkan krim dan nasi dalam tiap suapan membuat perut saya penuh juga hahaha!


Omelette Fried Rice, sebaliknya, menurut saya just too simple. Nasi goreng dibalut omelette dengan tambahan dua fried crispy nugget dan potongan tomat serta timun. Nasi gorengnya sepertinya dicampur dengan telur ½ matang sehingga teksturnya agak basah namun tidak tercium bau amis sama sekali, hanya saja agak aneh makan nasi goreng basah hehe…Nugget-nya cukup crispy dan yeah just complete the meal.


Green Tea Milkshake cukuplah jadi penetral dinner malam itu meskipun buat saya kurang creamy dan terlalu banyak air dan kurang manis, jadilah rasa green tea-nya pas-pasan, susunya juga kurang. Yeah, a good try at least.


Untuk harga, masih reasonable. Untuk makanan rata-rata dimulai dari harga Rp15.000 – 45.000, minuman Rp9.000 – 25.000 dan dessert mulai dari Rp15.000 – 25.000. Dengan pelayanan dan kenyaman resto yang juga sangat bagus, overall, I will give another menu try on my next visit. Simple resto with unusual concept. Way to go Sunny Side Up! Thanks for brightening my night, gonna back for another Omurice!

Red Tomato's New Face

Ever heard Red Tomato Express or Red Tomato outlet in several Jakarta’s mal? I dare you know moreover they have their signature crispy thin pizza. But hey, now you can get more than pizza because they has recently opened a new outlet, which is now restaurant not a pizza-express anymore, in Lippo Mal Kemang. Located at Avenue of the Stars, an open air area surrounded by several cafes and restaurants, Red Tomato established their rejuvenation with different concept with the previous outlet in Plaza Indonesia. If you ever dine in one of their outlet in Plaza Indonesia, you will aware of their differences. Yeah, they now provide a variation of alcoholic drinks ranging from beer to wine, you named it. They even have a chiller room in one of the resto’s corner which display the drinks beautifully. Maybe because they have a different market and customers here, in Plaza Indonesia you might dine with your family whereas in Kemang, where a bustling night life seducing you, you might be need drinks and cheers with your buddies, right.

Stepped my feet at this restaurant, I was pampered by the yellow light with cozy garden and barn-alike area. In front of the main door, there are several red tomatoes displayed in a big basket. Next to the red tomato display, there is also stack of red tomatoes with a beautiful artificial tree above them. After the garden-barn area, there is a dining room-alike area but still with garden ambience. I saw they use an artificial grass carpet as if I stepped into a real grass hehehe…In this area, we can see their open kitchen with waiters and chefs cooking and serving in a rush.

Then, here’s what I got on a private lunch invitation by them accompanied by their super kind representative.
Instead of offering variation of Asian-Western-Italian thin pizza, in their opening, they offer Black Series Pizza, a crispy thin pizza infused with squid ink with two choices of toppings either Pop Shrimps or Squid. This time I tasted the one with Shrimp. It’s a super thin pizza crust with a generous topping of shrimp and green vegetables! I never tasted such pizza with many vegetables before; I feel like on diet that time hahaha! The pizza crust and the topping just went well on my mouth. It blended perfectly.  


Appetizer. I give a try for Farmer’s Salad (55K). It is misclun salad with cherry tomatoes, generous slices of parmesan, dried figs, smoked duck breast, and balsamic dressing. The vegetables served fresh made me feel so healthy today hahaha!


Other try was Nyonya Chicken Rendang Pizza (89K). I wish I’ll find a truly Indonesian twist in this Italian pizza but it’s not. The rendang’s taste doesn’t too strong, it’s more likely similar with Peranakan typical flavour, and yeah the staffs admitted it. The topping are as usual full of vegetables, egg slices, rendang slices and cheddar grater. 


From the line of Pasta, I give a try for Gnocchi Quattro Formaggio (49K) and Dancing Pasta (59K). The first one is a homemade gnocchi made from potato dumpling cooked with cream and sauce and four cheeses. This is a recommended menu from the chef, but I’m not into this because I thought the mixture is too heavy, so does the cream, it didn’t give me special taste. 


While, the Dancing Pasta I admitted it as recommended since this spaghetti topped with homemade oyster chili sauce, shrimps, squids, and clams offers me a flavorous taste. Oh yeah, see the katsuoboshi on the top of which, that’s made the name of this dish comes from, the katsuoboshi which usually be a topping for Takoyaki or Okonomiyaki, appears like dancing when it is served hot. Funny!


Beef Veal Saltimbocca (185K). This main course made me glared because of its portion and serving on a super big plate, nope, it’s not, it is a picture frame! It is a 120 gr medallions of pan roasted beef veal tenderloin served with pan gravy sauce creamy polenta & roasted vegetables. The beef veal was tender and juicy while the polenta was creamy with rich corn flavour and don’t you think that this is similar with mashed potato? Indeed, but when you try, it isn’t. It is mashed corn and taste better than mashed potato for me.


For closing the lunch, I chose Watermelon Park (39K) from their Mixologist Mocktails line. It is a fusion of watermelon chunk, cucumber, vanilla syrup and lemon. Refreshing!


I also try a bit of In High Spirits (39K), a fusion of Apricot, Passion Fruit, and Lemon. More sour but still refreshing.


Bad news is the dessert display hasn’t arrived yet, so this time I couldn’t try their signature dessert. Well, maybe on next visit. For the pricing, they offer still reasonable price with good portion, appetizer ranging from IDR19,000 – 45,000 ; pasta ranging from IDR43,000 – 75,000 ; pizza ranging from IDR69,000 – 89,000 ; main course ranging from IDR69,000 -185,000. Then, for the beverages most of cocktails ranging from IDR75,000 – 100,000 and mocktails and other drinks ranging from 30,000 – 35,000.

Well, it was a superb lunch for me not only I got a superb menu but also welcomed by Gary, Red Tomato’s Marcomm Manager, which share anything and made me feel home. Never had such countless greetings and private food tasting before. Memorable!

[Product Testing] Printemps : Flower Sensation for Your Belly

What comes in my my mind when hearing a word spring is leaves falling down and windy weather, but ups right now someone bring me to another spring meaning, a season to enjoy cookies. That’s Printemps (read: Pringtong, a French word for Spring), a manufacturers of sweets which established on early 2013 in Jakarta who bring the spirit of spring into sweet products. This mother-and-son business simply offers extraordinary cookies and cake infused with astonishing ingredients such as flower scents. Feel surprise when I heard that they use flower scents in their signature line and when they offered me to taste their products, I just can’t resist that mouthwatering offer. 

Printemps has three lines of sweet product, Fleurs, Fruits, and Classique. Fleurs, their signature line offers three kinds of cookies and one cake i.e. Rose Petal cookies, Jasmine Green Tea cookies, Honey Lemon Camomile cookies, and Rose Petal Pound cake. All of them are made from combination of rose and chamomile scents. Then, Fruits offers two kinds of cookies and two cakes i.e. Oat and Raisin cookies, Pineapple Jam cookies, Dark Cherry pound cake, and Mix Fruit pound cake. The last, Classique offers two kinds of cookies and one cake i.e. Mature Cheese cokies, Chocolate Chips cookies and Cream Cheese pound cake. 

So, here’s my opinion after tasting several samples of Printemps cookies.

Rose Petal Cookies

What comes in my mind first when the cake went to my mouth was I ate rose leaves! The scent of rose was so strong but it wasn’t diminishing the taste of the cookies. I still taste the buttery with sandy texture of its. Never been tasting such unique cookies like this. Love it.


Jasmine Green Tea Cookies

I always love anything with green tea and this cookie simply gave me a new sensation of enjoying a green tea cookie with jasmine scent. Beautiful. 


Oat and Raisin Cookies

This cookies containing lot of oats and raisins but only small amount of butter and zero white sugar but still chewy and good to consume especially for you who in diet program hehe.


Chocolate Chips Cookies

Who can resist a chewy chocolate chips cookies. Me not and I just want this more and more.


Mature Cheese Cookies

The combination of Edam mature cheese and Wysmann butter can never be wrong. Rich of cheese, until I can smell the cheese aroma from the distance. Scrumptious.


Pineapple Jam Cookies

Ah this ‘nastar’ cookies remind me of my mother’s signature cookies every Iedul Fitri, simply similar but I don’t know this cookies seems too common for my taste bud. 


Overall, I enjoyed these unique cookies made by Printemps. If you a fans of cookies and curious to try this one, just contact Printemps through their social media or telephone. They have affordable price ranging from Rp30.000 – 60.000 for small package and Rp50.000 – 110.000 for regular packages. Oh and for the packaging you can custom it as your wish. Perfect for a gift to your loved ones.
